Arkki Nature Centre opens its doors again on 3.12.
The renovation work on the Ark Nature Centre has been completed and the museum will open to the public on Tuesday 3 December, after a break of a couple of months.
During the break, small-scale renovations and improvements have also been made to the Metsistä merelle main exhibition and the museum lobby. A few new animal species greet visitors to the main exhibition. A section on the nature of Yyteri has also been added, based on the unique Yyteri exhibition which closed in the autumn. To serve a wider audience, all exhibition texts have been translated into English. Minor changes have been made to the functionality and comfort of the lobby and museum shop, and the presentation technology in the lecture theatre has also been upgraded.
On Tuesday 3 December, a new exhibition entitled “Irreplaceable – Views on key species of the world” will open in the Kotilo, a space for temporary exhibitions.
This joint exhibition by the author Juha Kauppinen and the illustrator Janne Toriseva uses striking illustrations, animations and short but insightful texts to present what are considered the most important species in the Earth’s ecosystems, the so-called key species, and their myriad of amazing relationships with other species. The exhibition is based on the authors’ book.
