The skiing season in Pori Forest has started
Despite the rainy weather, the spreading of the preserved snow has progressed and the first ski track in Pori Forest has been opened. The approximately one-kilometre-long ski track can be easily reached via Ilmailuopistontie road.
– Despite the challenging weather conditions, the trail bottom of the Lammen lenkki -ski track has been completed and is now skiable. We will be able to make more ski tracks when the temperatures drop below zero and the weather conditions, including humidity, are suitable,” says Juha-Pekka Veneskivi, the sports facilities manager.
With the completion of the tracks, access from the ground outdoor swimming hall to the Katinkuru path will be from the north side of the tennis courts and walking through the ground swimming pool area along the track will be prohibited. Pedestrians and joggers wishing to use the Katinkuru and Pori Forest walking paths should use the stadium car park as their first port of call.- The tracks are intended for skiing only and should not be used for walking for safety reasons. The speed on skis can be quite high and it is not easy to stop or avoid pedestrians. In addition, sand and stones are easily transported by pedestrians on the slopes, which brings with it its own safety risks,” says Veneskivi.
