The winter season of the open air swimming pool begins

The winter swimming season in the open-air swimming pool starts next week on Monday 30 September. The pools will be open to swimmers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 15:00 to 19:30. The time for sauna and washing up ends at 20:00.

– This autumn, the open-air swimming pool will continue to offer the same quiet Friday sauna hours as last season. The idea behind the silent sauna shift is to keep the conversation quieter than normal, giving everyone a chance to settle into the weekend atmosphere at the end of the week. Silent Sauna Shift takes place on Fridays between 17:00 and 20:00 in both the men’s and women’s side saunas.

The silent sauna shift was trialled last winter and the separate quiet time for relaxation was well received. For many swimmers, taking a dip in the cold water and enjoying the sauna is a way of recovering from the stresses of the working week, for example, and relaxing in the sauna is another way of doing this. There will be no specific supervision of the quiet time, but swimmers are expected to respect other customers and the peace and quiet of the sauna,” says Petteri Lahti, Head of the Sports Department.

The winter swimming season at the open-air swimming pool will run until spring on 4 April 2025. For more information on the opening hours and contact details of the open-air swimming pool, please visit the city’s website.
